33 days since last post. Needless to say I don't post very often. The Yaesu FT-857D is now back from the shop new front end diodes and all is well. The rig operates rock solid on all bands now and the FM squelch is working perfectly. According to the Yaesu tech that I spoke with he believes that my issue was caused by my antennas being to close together thus blowing the front end diodes in the rig. So I have now moved the 2 meter antenna to the other side of the Jeep and I think that will do the trick. The price of being a newbie (haha). I did purchase a second IC-7000 and it now resides in the Jeep and all seems to be well. Like my buddy Woody K7CQX says "you can never have too many radios" ... I think he is correct but I need to find a purpose for the 857 or its going to the QRZ swapmeet. As for fantastic ham radio contacts nothing super special in the past month but I have a great group of guys that meet on 146.520 simplex everyday and we have eyeball QSOs on Fridays at the old country buffet. There is so much knowledge and experience that newbiew like myself goes on overload
I have been playing around with my new Canon G12 camera and been taking some pixs of the station. I will post them below
